Travelers usually book their preferred vehicle online and in advance so it is reserved for them. Unfortunately, a lot of the time, a customer is informed that the car they booked is unavailable but they can upgrade at a fee. This is unfair and a rip-off because customers should receive the vehicle they booked and paid for. If not then they should receive a free upgrade or a refund for a down graded car. Customers should always insist on getting what they signed up for or a free upgrade to avoid unnecessary charges. The rental firm is unlikely to turn them away or insist on the extra charges.
